We will find your ancestors and make a family tree

In order to start a genealogical research of your Slovak family, in the first step we will need from you the name and surname of the oldest known Slovak ancestor, the date and place of his birth and also his religion. You can order the following genealogical outputs. These can be separate projects, but they can be combined with each other if they are interested.

  1. Genealogy – ancestral research

It is currently the most sought-after genealogical output. Because it is a collection of ancestors, all the ancestors of the key person (eg you) are identified, ie parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. The family tree has the shape of an inverted pyramid. The line of ancestors doubles every generation. For example, for those interested who are currently around 50 years old, we usually look for ancestors up to 6-7th generation, ie until about the period of 1790. Sometimes it is possible to get to about 1750 resp. further, but the older the entry, the less data it contains and therefore there may be a gradual problem e.g. with tracing of women 's maiden names.

  2. Family tree – descendant research

All descendants of a given ancestor up to the present are identified. The family tree has the shape of a pyramid, with the oldest identifiable ancestor at the top, and below it, at individual stages, its direct descendants, including their spouses. This family tree is more demanding and has a much wider range. Therefore, it tends to be assembled for only a few generations of the family. However, it can also be used to identify more distant relatives. It has a very suitable use in inheritance proceedings, when you need to find out the circle of heirs.

  3. Family tree – agnate descendant research

Only one surname is monitored, from the oldest known bearer to the present. It is a type of family tree that proceeds only along the male line, while female offspring are no longer followed. Of course, it's not just for men. It can also be developed by a woman when researching the ancestors of her family name, ie after her father. This is a classic family tree, which in the past was compiled for aristocratic families. In this type of research we were able to get up to 12 generations back to the 17th century.

We will find your lost inheritance in Slovakia

In the first third of the 20th century, many Slovaks went to work overseas. Many of them left their property in Slovakia. It was mainly agricultural land. Because this properties has not been legally settled in Slovakia, it is considered land of unknown owners under Slovak law, and therefore the land is managed by the Slovak Republic. There is only one option to acquire ownership of this land for heirs, which is to request an inheritance procedure at the Court of Slovakia. We understand that because you live for example in the USA, it might be too difficult to navigate Slovak law for you and search the archives for old documents. In relation to this and on the basis of our knowledge and experience, we would like to offer you the opportunity to acquire the necessary documents in Slovakia for you and secure on your behalf up the entire inheritance proceedings. You will have to provide only evidence that you are the heirs in the USA (for example testament). We will search the Slovak archives and provide documents that it really was your ancestors who once owned the properties.

Based on your request, we can check whether your ancestors are registered as "unknown owners" of the agricultural land and find your "lost" properties. If your ancestor will to be identified as an unknown owner, we will ensure that your own right to such real estate is registered with all the necessary details. If you are interested, we will then arrange the sale or rental of your properties.

You might be interested in knowing that there is no inheritance tax in Slovakia. There are only very low court fees, and the price for our services will be symbolic in comparison to the price USA companies charge for the same services.
